What can you expect from Dumm Money?
“Dumb Money is the ultimate David vs. Goliath story, based on the insane true story of ordinary people who turned the script on Wall Street and got rich by making GameStop (yes, the video game store in a mall) the hottest company the world,” reads the summary. “In the middle of it all is regular Keith Gill, who starts it all by putting his life savings into the stock and posting about it. When his social media posts explode, so does his life and that of everyone who follows him. When a stock tip becomes a movement, everyone gets rich — until the billionaires strike back and both sides find their world turned upside down.”
Based on Ben Mezrich’s book The Antisocial Network, Dumb Money is directed by Craig Gillespie from a screenplay by Rebecca Angelo and Lauren Schuker Blum. The film stars are Paul Dano, Pete Davidson, Vincent D’Onofrio, America Ferrera, Nick Offerman, Anthony Ramos, Sebastian Stan, Shailene Woodley, Seth Rogen, Talia Ryder, Myha’la Herrold and more.
Dumb Money is executive produced by Michael Heimler, John Friedberg, Andrew Swett, Angelo, Schuker Blum, Mezrich, Johnny Holland and Kevin Ulrich, as well as Tyler Winklevoss and Cameron Winklevoss – twin brothers whose connection in the making of Mark drew attention excited Zuckerberg’s Facebook. They were famously played by Armie Hammer on The Social Network. The film is also being produced by Gillespie and Teddy Schwarzman for Black Bear, along with Ryder Picture Company’s Aaron Ryder.
