Disney+ will add content from Hulu later in 2023 to create a “one-app experience.”
During a Disney earnings conference on Wednesday, CEO Bob Iger announced that Disney will make Disney+ a “one-app experience” by adding Hulu content to the streaming platform. The CEO then explained that the film “should lead to a more unified streaming experience.”
“While we will continue to offer Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ as standalone options, this is a natural evolution of our (direct-to-consumer) offerings, which offer greater opportunities for advertisers while also giving bundle subscribers access to more robust and optimized content. This leads to greater audience engagement and ultimately a more consistent streaming experience,” Iger said in the call (via diversity).
When is Hulu content coming to Disney+?
The addition is scheduled to happen by the end of 2023, meaning viewers in the United States will be able to see Hulu products on Disney+ before the end of the year. Hulu original content includes popular current series like Tiny Beautiful Things and Class of ’09, as well as current original films like Boston Strangler, Clock, and Quasi. In some regions, the Hulu program is already available on Disney+ under the Star banner.
