Andor and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Star Diego Luna has spoken about how the somber tone of the two Star Wars projects is achieved.
As part of a diversity Feature, Luna spoke to colleagues war of stars Actor Hayden Christensen on her career and affiliation with the franchise. When Christensen addressed Andor’s darker tone, Luna described how they create that atmosphere in a Star Wars project.
“That was something we remembered every day on Rogue One,” Luna explained. “And with Andor, we went even further with the idea that you have to forget it’s Star Wars. Tony Gilroy was always very specific. Every time you had to explain for too long what you wanted to do, he said, “There’s no room for that.” It just has to be. It has to be easy. It has to be real.’ It was a constant reminder every day. If it felt forced, or felt strange, or came from a “galaxy far, far away,” then we did the wrong thing.”
Who stars in Andor?
Andor stars Diego Luna and franchise alumni Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera and Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma. The cast also includes Star Wars newcomers Denise Gough, Stellan SkarsgĂ„rd, Kyle Soller and Adria Arjona.
Andor is produced by showrunner Tony Gilroy, who previously directed the re-shoots of Rogue One. Gilroy was originally scheduled to direct three episodes but had to resign the position Black Mirror’s Toby Haynes due to pandemic-related travel issues.
