Day of the Jackal cast: Lashana Lynch joins Peacock’s Eddie Redmayne series

After diversityOutbreak of Captain Marvel Lashana Lynch was officially selected to join The Day of the Jackal Cast for Peacock’s upcoming serial adaptation of Frederick Forsyth’s seminal thriller of the same name. Production is scheduled to begin later this year.

Lynch will play the role of Bianca, a tenacious police officer determined to catch a notorious assassin known as The Jackal, played by Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne (“The Danish Girl”). Following her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Maria Rambeau, Lynch continued to appear in a number of high-profile feature films, including No Time To Die, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, The Woman King, and Matilda the Musical.

What can you expect from the series “The Day of the Jackal”?

“The series is a bold, modern reinterpretation of the popular and acclaimed novel and film,” reads the log line. “While staying true to the DNA of the original story, this contemporary drama will delve deeper into the chameleon-like “anti-hero” at the heart of the story in a cinematic, fast-paced, world-traveling cat-and-mouse thriller amidst the turbulent geopolitical landscape of our time.”

“Day of the Jackal” is written by showrunner Ronan Bennett (“Top Boy”). Game of Thrones’ Brian Kirk is directing. In addition to starring in the lead role, Redmayne served as an executive producer on the project. Production is scheduled to begin later this year.

The adaptation is being produced by Gareth Neame, Nigel Marchant and Sam Hoyle. The film is being produced by Carnival Films and Sky Studios, with Forsyth serving as consulting producer and Christopher Hall as producer.
