Christopher Nolan says early viewers of Oppenheimer left the film destroyed.

The upcoming historical thriller follows physicist J Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy) as he works with a team of scientists during the Manhattan Project that led to the development of the atomic bomb. It’s one of the most anticipated films of the year, with Nolan in the director’s chair and an all-star cast.

Nolan has commented on how early viewers reacted to the film. “Some people leave the movie devastated,” says Nolan Wired. “You can’t speak. I mean there is an element of fear that is present in the story and in the background. But the love for the characters, the love for the relationships is stronger than ever.”
