Netflix got Chris Hemsworth and director Sam Hargrave to announce during Tudum that Extraction 3 was in the works.
The announcement of Extraction 3 comes a day after Extraction 2 was released on the streamer. No details have been given about the upcoming film, although both Hargrave and Hemsworth are expected to return.
What Extraction 2 was about
“Having narrowly survived the events of the first film, Rake is back as an Australian black ops mercenary tasked with yet another deadly mission: rescuing the abused family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held be,” says the synopsis of Extraction 2.
Extraction 2 will once again be directed by Sam Hargrave from a script by recurring screenwriter Joe Russo. Hemsworth will be joined by Golshifteh Farahani, Tornike Gogrichiani, Adam Bessa, Daniel Bernhardt, Tinatin Dalakishvili and Olga Kurylenko. Like the 2020 film, it is also being produced by Avengers: Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo via their AGBO banner, along with Hemsworth.
The original film was set in an underworld full of arms dealers and dealers. It’s about a little boy who becomes a pawn in a war between notorious drug lords. Extraction was well received, with critics praising the action sequences. In the first month of its release, it was the most-watched film on Netflix, reaching 90 million homes.
