Chances for Hijack Season 2 addressed by Idris Elba

Idris Elba is open to a return for a second season AppleTV+ thriller Heack, but with one caveat.

Accordingly TVLineThe star and executive producer explained that the possibilities are “more limited” because his character, Sam Nelson, is “not a cop, ex-military, spy or anything.”

“It’s just an ordinary person going home and getting into this incredible situation. And the chances of lightning striking the same spot are slim,” Elba continued. “There are ways we can bring Sam back. I just don’t know what they are yet. But if the audience wants it, then we make it happen.”

Who else is in the cast of Hijack?

In addition to Elba, Hijack also stars Archie Panjabi, Christine Adams, Max Beesley, Eve Myles, Neil Maskell, Jasper Britton, Harry Michell, Aimée Kelly, Mohamed Elsandel and Ben Miles.

“Hijack is a suspenseful, real-time thriller that follows the journey of a hijacked plane on its seven-hour flight to London as local authorities seek answers,” reads the official synopsis. “Elba stars as Sam Nelson, a veteran business negotiator who must use all his cunning to save passengers’ lives – but his risky strategy could prove fatal. Panjabi will play the role of Zahra Gahfoor, an anti-terrorist officer who is on the scene when the plane is hijacked and becomes part of the investigation.”

The series is produced by 60Forty Films, the production company founded by Emmy Award-winning executive producers Jamie Laurenson and Hakan Kousetta along with Kay and Field Smith’s own production company Idiotlamp Productions, and is also the first series to debut from Elba’s First Look deal with Apple TV+ and its Green Door Pictures. In addition to writing and directing, Kay and Field Smith serve as executive producers alongside Elba, Laurenson, Kousetta and Kris Thykier.
