Batman: Caped Crusader is “everything Bruce Timm wanted to do with Batman: The Animated Series”.

Peter Girardi, Executive Vice President of Alternative Programming at Warner Bros. Animation, has revealed Bruce Timm’s approach to the upcoming Prime Video series Batman: Cloaked Crusader.

What did Peter Girardi say about Bruce Timm & Batman: Caped Crusader?

In a summary article by Annecy diversityGirardi noted that Batman: Caped Crusader “is everything Bruce Timm wanted to do in 1992’s Batman: The Animated Series that he couldn’t do because of his young audience.

“It’s everything Bruce Timm wanted to do in the original series (Batman 1992, animated series), but because it was on a children’s channel, he wasn’t able to do it,” Girardi explained. “So this is definitely older. Rather, it is his full vision.”

First announced in 2021, Batman: Caped Crusader is billed as a more mature animated series centered on the iconic Batman. The show’s crew includes Bruce Timm, JJ Abrams and Matt Reeves.

While not much of the plot is known, it’s said to be a reimagining of the character, aiming to bring things back to her noir roots and focusing on the earlier years of Batman’s crime-fighting journey through Gotham City before he took off the GCPD befriends Commissioner James Gordon.
