The official Based on a true story The trailer for Peacock’s upcoming dark comedy thriller has been released, which stars Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina as a married couple striving for fame with a true crime podcast. The series will stream on June 8th.

The video features Cuoco as a pregnant woman obsessed with true crime stories. After witnessing a murder by the West Side Ripper, she enlists her husband to co-host a podcast about the serial killer to capitalize on America’s fixation on true crime.

Who is involved in Based on a True Story?

“Based on a True Story” is written, produced and created by Craig Rosenberg (The Boys). Cuoco’s Ava and Messina’s Nathan will be joined by Tom Bateman, Priscilla Quintana, Liana Liberato, Natalia Dyer, Alex Alomar Akpobome, Aisha Alfa, Annabelle Dexter-Jones and Li Jun Li.

“The series follows a real estate agent, a former tennis star and a plumber who seize a unique opportunity to capitalize on America’s obsession with true crime,” reads the log line.

Executive Producers are Jason Bateman, Michael Costigan and Roxie Rodriguez for Aggregate Films, and Melissa Blake and Alex Buono, who is also directing two episodes. It is a production of UCP.

Cuoco gained recognition for her starring role on the popular CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory, which aired for twelve seasons from 2007 to 2019. Cuoco received her first Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy for her starring role in the first season of The Flight Attendant. She is also the voice of Harley Quinn in the ongoing HBO Max animated series.

Messina’s notable TV appearances include The Newsroom, The Mindy Project, Sharp Objects and The Sinner Season 3. He is next starred in the horror-thriller adaptation of Stephen King’s The Boogeyman by 20th Century Studios.
