It was recently announced that the upcoming Sony Spider-Man universe film El Muerto will be indefinitely delayed from its original release date of January 12, 2024. The film was to star singer/actor Bad Bunny as Juan-Carlos Sánchez and directed by Jonás Cuarón.

Accordingly One Take News, Bad Bunny will no longer play the title role in the film. However, the film will still take place and Sony will be looking for another actor to reprise the role. It is unknown if Bad Bunny will remain on the project as executive producer. The reason for his departure is unknown but is believed to be due to his busy touring schedule and continued delays during the writers’ strike.

Development of the project began when Sony executives were impressed with its performance in 2022’s Bullet Train and wanted to build another project around it.

When is El Muerto release date?

There is no current release date for El Muerto. The project has been delayed indefinitely.

The next film in Sony’s Spider-Man universe will be Kraven the Hunter, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson. The premiere will take place on October 6, 2023.
