Disney has given the green light to a new animated series for toddlers The little mermaidaccordingly diversity.
When is The Little Mermaid Animated Series coming out?
The news comes from the ongoing Annecy Animation Festival 2023. The series is titled Disney Juniors Ariel and follows a young Ariel and her adventures with some of the most iconic characters from The Little Mermaid. These include King Triton, Ursula, Sebastian and Flounder.
Similar to other early childhood programs, in the series Ariel explores the world around her and solves problems with objects she finds. Variety specifically reports that Ariel’s tail also changes color during her discoveries and can change depending on her emotions. This will likely flow into the show to teach kids too.
“When we created Ariel from Disney Junior, we knew we wanted to create an atmosphere that was alive and magical, expressing the imagination of our little Ariel, who is as big as the sea, just like our preschool audiences at home added Alyssa Sapire, senior vice president of development, series and strategy at Disney Junior.
“Full of charm, big ideas and a powerful voice, Disney Juniors Ariel comes to herself and learns to discover and appreciate the world around her and to use her voice to inspire others,” reads the series’ official synopsis .
