“Members of your crew have been replaced with an alien shapeshifter intent on causing confusion, sabotaging the ship and killing everyone,” reads the game’s official description. “Find out the ‘cheater’ or fall prey to his murderous intent.”

Among Us was originally released in 2018, however, the game’s explosive popularity didn’t come until 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The game puts multiple players in the role of crew members on a spaceship, with one player acting as a murderous “impostor” whose goal is to covertly kill the other crew members before they are spotted and jettisoned from the ship.
