Adam Driver He has reportedly been offered the role of Reed Richards in the upcoming film Fantastic Four Movie. However, a new report suggests he may not be in the running anymore.

Adam Driver may not reprise his role as Reed Richard

On the latest episode of The Hot Mic Podcast, Above the Line’s Jeff Sneider mentioned that many of these auditions could see cut costs and speculated that Driver may have “walked out of the way” for the role.

“When I asked someone about Fantastic Four, they said … like I said, money matters, so I think Adam Driver overrated himself,” Sneider said. “That may have been the situation. Maybe he just started asking too much money.”

Sneider and co-host John Rocha went on to speculate that the potential issue could also be a casting issue, as Driver simply didn’t want to star in the film if Margot Robbie – who was rumored to play Sue Storm – wasn’t in it.

The driver’s name has already been mentioned in connection with the role. Sneider recently shared information during a past episode of The Hot Mic Podcast that Driver is the lead actor who will play the role, a report Sneider couldn’t verify but made sense to him.

Elsewhere, Beyond the Trailer’s Grace Rudolph also teased that Driver could be “a prime candidate for a certain demanding role.” Along with rumors that Driver will play MCU Reed Richards, other reports have mentioned that Elvis star Austin Butler has been eyed for the role of Johnny Storm, aka The Human Torch.

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the Fantastic Four Marvel comics series appeared in 1961 and was the first team superhero title produced by Marvel Comics.

The film is set to premiere on February 14, 2025 in Phase 6 of the MCU.
