The best movies on Netflix available now
The following Netflix movies are available now; You can watch them with your subscription.
Kill Boksoon
Directed by Byun Sung-hun, the film is one of the most pleasant surprises of 2023 so far. Directed by esteemed South Korean actress Jeon Do-yeon, Kill Boksoon is an action-packed thriller that follows a woman struggling to maintain her life as a mother and to reconcile an assassin. Sung-hun pays homage to Quentin Tarantino, but goes beyond simply imitating the Hollywood director’s style and offers a new take on the action genre. If you are a fan of movies like Kill Bill, John Wick etc then Kill Boksoon is a must see.
Crime 2
Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston reunite as Nick and Audrey Spitz to solve another mysterious case. This time, unconventional detectives take to the streets of Monte Carlo and Paris, France to rescue their good friend Vikram “The Maharajah” Govindan. The sequel builds on the legacy of 2019’s “Murder Mystery” and relies on the same level of comedy. Sandler and Aniston make a good team and Murder Mystery 2 is worth a look for anyone looking for a good laugh.
Luther: The Fallen Sun
John Luther is one of the most iconic roles Idris Elba has dealt with in his career, and Luther: The Fallen Sun feels like the natural continuation of the legacy the British actor has built since 2010. New challenges await the titular detective in Luther: The Fallen Sun, the long-running addition to the franchise created by Neil Cross. In fact, in the Jamie Payne-directed film, Luther is engaged in one of his greatest missions ever. The cast includes Cynthia Erivo, Dermot Crowley and Andy Serkis.
The Magician’s Elephant
Netflix’s animations rarely disappoint, and The Magician’s Elephant lives up to the high expectations. Based on the book by double Newbery Award-winning author Kate DiCamillo, the story follows young Peter’s efforts to find his sister. Along the way, Peter befriends an elephant who will help and accompany him along the way.
Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio
Less than a year after Disney’s Pinocchio once again lowered the bar for its tepid live-action remakes, Guillermo del Toro has delivered what may be the definitive retelling of the children’s classic. The Oscar-winning director is known for his visual style, which has never been more impressive here – the love that went into this stop-motion film has to be seen to be believed.
YOUNG
Explosive action from Train to Busan director Yeon Sang-ho. This South Korean sci-fi film is a little over the top but packs a punch. Based on films like “Blade Runner” and “Terminator”, JUNG_E takes us into an uninhabitable world and a humanity fragmented into shelters in space. With unforgettable action sequences and a lot of heart, this film is worth a look.
The strays
The Strays has similarities to Jordan Peele’s Get Out on its sleeve, and we think that’s cool. Everything from the trailer to the premise – a black woman leaves her working class and moves to a white suburb, but all is not what it seems – owes a lot to Peele’s modern horror classic. While it doesn’t quite reach the pinnacle of its inspiration, it’s still a gripping psychological thriller.
